Style Kitchens by Design, located on Sandgate Road, Nundah recently completed a project in Wavell Heights for a local family looking to update their kitchen.
Stuart May, designer and founder of Style Kitchens by Design worked with the local client to design something that would create a space that was functional, stylish and classic.
We spoke to Stuart about the project, the brief and the finished look.
What services did you handle on this project? We provided a complete kitchen design and manufacturing service. For more than 50 years, our work has focused on the design, co-ordination and manufacture of kitchens, bathrooms and custom joinery. Our creations are all manufactured in our local establishment, Maycut in Brendale. We are also able to assist our clients with the coordination and project management of appliances, trades and other contractors that the project requires.
What was the main client request for this renovation? Create a classical style new kitchen in a non-standard space. The client asked for good flow in the space for a growing family and requested a study area (that could be easily closed off) so the client could work from home.
What are the major features that help it achieve this? An overall good design of space. We optimised the original environment while considering the preparation, cooking and working area, without forgetting the connection between the kitchen and the outdoor.
How does the finished project now suit the client’s lifestyle? Exactly how they dreamed it would! We always aim to achieve a space in which our clients’ lifestyle brings together both the art of cooking and the connection of family and friends. In this case, we also integrated the studio, a necessary environment for smart working. It is a space that has become more important in every home, especially considering current circumstances.
What is your favourite feature of this particular project? There are two items that stand out – the feature island stone detail and the use of bi-folds. The bi-folds are useful to hide sections and keep the main area uncluttered and clean. As you can see in this renovation, they are used in the pantry as much as to hide the studio area, but they can be useful also in a laundry or in a wardrobe. We are proud to use only products of the highest quality for all projects and we can complete any internal custom joinery our client required.
