Prince of Wales Hotel

The multi-stage renovation that’s been unfolding throughout 2025 has wrapped up just in time for Christmas.

The new sports bar has been drawing crowds since its late October opening, the gaming room is up and running, and now the refreshed bistro has opened its doors, with views to Nundah Village through the new open windows.

Upstairs, all 18 hotel rooms have been updated and now each have their own ensuite—a significant upgrade from the previously shared bathrooms.

It’s a big moment for a building that’s been serving the community since 1865. Back then, when Nundah was still called German Station, the original hotel offered three sitting rooms and five bedrooms. The hotel has been rebuilt and reimagined many times since – major works in 1897, extensive remodelling in 1926 with its distinctive cast iron lacework, and a complete rebuild in 1965. Through punk rock nights in the 2000s (including a memorable headline act from CJ Ramone) and countless community gatherings in between, it’s remained a constant in Nundah’s changing landscape. With a fresh new menu and full lineup of events in 2026, the POW is set to kick off the new year right in their new digs.
