Nundah local Gaylia Lee, from This is Me Photography embarked on an ambitious project to take 52 portraits in 52 weeks in 2021.
She spent the year meeting locals, taking their photos and sharing their stories. Her subjects – people who live, work or love the local area – are the cover stars for the Feb/Mar issue of the Loving Nundah magazine.
Gaylia decided to start the challenge to help her gain more confidence and live courageously, while getting comfortable with rejection.
“Every single participant surprised and delighted me by sharing their experiences and their willingness to be photographed,” says Gaylia. “With 52 portraits, I was able to share what an amazing community we have in images and words and capture a time capsule of Nundah 2021.”
Gaylia said that it was surprising and beautiful to be reminded that regardless of our differences, we are all very similar.
“I was often amused by the parents who answered similarly. Most proud of? Kids. Biggest challenge? Kids.”

Gaylia is already on to her next project, and wants to inspire and support others who are working on their own project… or even starting a movement!
“Maybe you’re starting that side hustle… finally! If so, I want to photograph you and share your project. Let’s inspire and support each other,” says Gaylia.
